The first auction of the contemporary art has taken place in Donetsk, in spite of frightening headlines of mass-media. Organizers received evidence that Donetsk citizens are interested in contemporary art according to numerous attendees and they find niche for the further development of this kind of art.
Auction by tender, buyers' anonymity, tight security of art-exhibition centre are no ordinary activity for young gallery. Much work has been done for this auction.
The auctions result has made up 26 % of the presented works.
It was the first time the auction house «Golden section» used a webcast of the auction and collectors from all sides of Ukraine and the near abroad took part in it.
Two works of the most expensive Ukrainian artist Anatoly Krivolap have been sold (one of these works are in the private collection of the anonymous Donetsk citizen) as well as Paul Kerestej collection work made in 1989.
The serious bidding arose for Artem Volokitin work, who won the "Аrt prize 2010" of V.Pinchuk. Arsen Savadov's photos, digital works of Stepan Ryabchenko and Ivan Tsyupka have been also sold by auction. The Donetsk collector and initiator of the contemporary art auction in Donetsk Oleg Zdanovich has got a number of works for his collection. "Madonna" CH&P is one of them and it will be in a permanent exhibition of ArtDonbass gallery. The most expensive works haven't been sold by auction. However, post-auction sale will be offered for several days for those who couldn't take part in the auction.
Organizers are satisfied with the results of the auction and commence negotiations on carrying out of a pre-auction classical art exhibition (painting of the middle of 19th and the beginning of 20th centuries) and auction in the art-exhibition centre ArtDonbass in spring of 2012.
