"Music in colour"

"Good painting is a music, is a melody"
Michelangelo Buonarroti

"Music in colour" is a new exhibition, presented this spring by art-exhibition center "ArtDonbass". Exposition contains more than 100 works of local artists.
All these paintings have one thing in common. It is love and attraction to music. Some works were inspired by a melody; others represent unique image of modern musicians and composers or illustrate musical poems.
What would happen to painting if music didn`t exist?
In the first third of 20th century, representatives of romanticism had developed the theory of musicality in pictorial art. By using some special pictorial devices, they were trying to fill their paintings with music. Music lived in a composition, harmony; it revealed itself in rhythm, play of light and shadow, colour. Speaking about how painting influence music, we should admit a  plenty of special terms that moved from one field to another. Musicians applied terms, which belonged exclusively to artists, such as gamma, tone and semitone, nuance, musical colour, cold and warm timbre, light and dark melody.
We invite you not only to watch but also to listen to the colour of represented paintings!

Grand opening of the exhibition will take place on 5th March 2015 in 14 o`clock.
